Reading Across the USA at Carpenter!
One of the homework assignments in Language Arts this year requires each student to read at home for at least 20 minutes (or more) everyday. During this time your child may read quietly on his/her own, he/she may read to you or to another person, or you may read to your child. (books, magazines, newspaper articles, etc. which are of interest to them) This is not only important in developing an interest in reading for your child, but it is also one of the many ways you can help your child improve in their reading, vocabulary, and writing skills.
Your child will receive a monthly reading log page to record the number of minutes he/she has read and to get your signature. Please help your child by reminding him/her to read everyday and to provide plenty of reading materials. Your assistance in filling out the monthly reading log and totaling the number of minutes he/she has read will be greatly appreciated.
